BASF will build its new R&D center for horticultural seeds in El Ejido (Almería)

El Ejido (Almería) will have a new research, development, and innovation center for horticultural seeds, which will occupy 25 hectares and will begin construction at the beginning of 2026, as announced this Thursday by Nunhems, the brand responsible for this business unit of the multinational BASF. BASF expects it to be fully operational in two years, at the beginning of 2028. Once operational, this new R&D center in El Ejido will progressively absorb the activities currently carried out in the two centers the company has in this Almeria municipality, those in Almerimar and Santa María del Águila. In this way, the main activities of the horticultural seed business in Almería are consolidated in a single location that will become the central headquarters of this business unit in Spain.
