In terms of corn growers, the Preceon Smart Corn System has been introduced, aiming to enhance the plant's resilience and yield performance. Through continuous genetic improvement, it not only increases yield potential but also enhances protection against pests, diseases, and other agronomic challenges. The system offers dwarf corn with a height of approximately 7 feet, which has sturdier stalks, stronger resistance to lodging, and greater application flexibility compared to traditional plants, thereby maximizing crop performance.
In pest control, Bayer has introduced the fourth-generation corn rootworm trait, Corn Rootworm 4. This trait will provide two new insecticidal proteins to better control high-pressure, yield-damaging rootworm populations. Additionally, the LEP5 project under development will offer new solutions for above-ground pests, including bollworms, black cutworms, and southwestern corn borers.
Soybean growers will also welcome new products. The Asgrow brand manager stated that a soybean trait named Viconic is expected to be launched in 2027. Viconic will be the first soybean variety with tolerance to five herbicides, including glyphosate, glufosinate, clethodim, 2,4-D, and miso. Compared to the existing Asgrow XtendFlex soybeans, Viconic shows superior performance.
Furthermore, Bayer is also developing fifth-generation herbicide-tolerant HT5 soybeans, adding PPO tolerance, bringing the total tolerance to six types. At the same time, Bayer plans to introduce a 12-group herbicide named Convintro in the next planting season, providing a new tool to combat resistant amaranth and waterhemp while maintaining yield potential.
