Producers in Bursa, Turkey, the country's largest green bean producer, are facing significant financial challenges as they struggle with falling prices and rising costs, including worker wages. The price of green beans has dropped from 30 liras per kilo last year to 12 liras this year, while the daily cost of employing a worker has increased to 950 liras. As a result, producers are finding it difficult to break even, with some even selling below cost. Bursa, which produces 55 percent of Turkey's green beans, is crucial for meeting the country's demand.
