China should produce 7.4 million tons of beef in 2023

China should produce 7.4 million tons of beef (in carcass equivalent) in 2023, according to information released by the Gain Report bulletin, by attachés of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). The volume must exceed the 7.180 million tons produced in 2022. To reach this volume, the country must slaughter 49 million cattle next year, above the 47.820 million animals slaughtered in 2022. The country should import 3.4 million tons of beef, below the 3.502 million tons purchased in 2022. The forecast is that the country will export 21 thousand tons of beef in 2023, a volume slightly higher than the 20 thousand tons registered in 2022. With regard to imports, it is worth mentioning that the suspension of Brazilian exports of Brazilian beef to China, in view of the case of mad cow disease registered in the country at the end of February, will impact a slight decrease in the final numbers.
