Amid the decrease in beef exports to the United States, Mexico has emerged as a new destination for Brazilian beef. The volume of Mexican purchases increased by 420% from January to June of this year, from 3,100 to 16,100 tons. In general terms, Brazilian beef exports have been increasing, reaching 241,000 tons in June, according to consolidated data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC). The sales value reached US$ 1.3 billion. According to preliminary data for July, Brazilian beef exports increased by 56.5% compared to the same period last year. It was one of the fastest-growing products and one of the drivers of the overall 3% increase in the country's exports. Among the main products exported to the United States, beef was one of the few that did not enter the list of exemptions from the extra 50% tariff imposed by President Donald Trump on Thursday (30).
