Drought conditions in Belarus are impacting the growth and development of crops, particularly winter crops such as wheat, rye, triticale, and perennial grasses. The lack of rainfall since mid-May has led to a significant reduction in soil moisture, causing yellowing, twisting, and drying of leaves in cereal crops. The situation is worsened by extreme weather conditions including night frosts and a cold spring. While it's too early to make pessimistic forecasts, experts warn that the drought could affect the effectiveness of other factors, lead to irreversible consequences during plant development, and potentially result in crop shortages. The drought is also negatively affecting forage harvesting, reducing yield and quality. Despite these challenges, agricultural enterprises in Belarus have managed to mow over 47,000 hectares of first-cut grasses per day, marking a significant increase from last year.
