Approximately 2 million hectares of agricultural crops in other countries are of Belarusian variety, according to Eroma Urban, deputy director general of the Scientific and Production Center of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for agriculture. Belarusian varieties are surpassing foreign analogues in many parameters, occupying an increasing area in the country, with nearly 90% of spring wheat being represented by Belarusian selection. The National Academy of Sciences Scientific Center for Agriculture is involved in the selection of various grain and cruciferous crops, obtaining seeds for 20 types of perennial legumes and cereals. The selection focuses on high and stable productivity and resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
