Since the start of this marketing season in July 2022, Belgium has already bought 227,000 tons of Dutch potatoes. That is almost 80,000 tonnes more than in the same period last season. On the other hand, the purchase by Germany is still disappointing. Outside Europe, the African country of Senegal is an important buyer of potatoes from the Netherlands. The purchase of more than 2,000 tonnes in January brings the total to 33,000 tonnes so far. In America, Trinidad and Tobago is the largest buyer. The country bought 2,000 tons of Dutch potatoes in January. This brings the intermediate position to 13,000 tonnes. So far, only 2,700 tons have left for Asia this sales season, according to the NAO figures.
