The article outlines new legislation in Belgium for the control of Infectious Bovine Rhinotracheitis (IBR) in cattle. The law sets a deadline for the removal of IBR carriers by October 31, 2023, with a few exceptions for farms with recent introductions and approved plans. The trade of IBR-infected cattle is permitted only for direct transport to slaughter houses or veal calf farms. The law also imposes conditions on non-conventional cattle farms like veal calf farms and fatteners. Currently, 98.6% of conventional Belgian cattle farms are IBR-free or IBR gE negative.
