The "Berry Market 2023" event presented an assessment of the world berry market by FAO economist Andriy Yarmak, revealing that global trade in berries overtook bananas in 2021 and continued to lead in 2022 despite a decline in export volumes. The export of fresh and frozen berries brought exporters about $13.7 billion at the end of 2022, with trade volumes growing at a faster rate than the overall fruit category. Yarmak also noted an increase in the gap between fresh blueberries and fresh strawberries in world trade, with raspberry exports growing at the fastest rate in the berry segment.
