The BEST greenhouse at Wageningen University & Research has successfully grown raspberries and blackberries with limited CO2 and energy consumption in 2020. The greenhouse, covered with bubble wrap, is designed for crops with low heat demand and has achieved good production while maintaining minimum product quality. The spring raspberry crop and autumn blackberry cultivation consumed less than 4 m3 per m2 of gas and doses of 7.1 and 6.2 kilos of CO2 per m2 respectively, with a portion of the CO2 purchased externally.
