In a significant operation by the Coast Guard Marmara and Straits Regional Command, 538 boxes of undersized horse mackerel, weighing around 8 tons, were confiscated at Istanbul's Yenikapı fish landing point. The operation, executed under the Fisheries Law No. 1380 by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, aimed to combat illegal fishing activities. The seized fish were donated to social aid organizations, and six individuals involved were fined a total of 123,298 TL, highlighting the authorities' dedication to preserving marine life and enforcing fishing regulations.
