Biosciences and agriculture concentrate 90% of Uruguayan deep techs

Uruguay is one of the emerging hubs for advanced technological innovation in the region, with a marked specialization in health and biosciences, according to the report "Deep Tech Radar LATAM 2025," prepared by the Brazilian consultancy EMERGE in alliance with Cubo Itaú. Deep techs are startups based on cutting-edge science and technology, characterized by a solid scientific-technological base, transformative impact on strategic sectors, intellectual differentiation and protection, and a high potential for maturation with a focus on disruptive innovation. These companies work in areas such as artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, nanotechnology, sensors, blockchain, and quantum technologies, with applications ranging from health to agriculture, energy, industry, and defense.
