Netherlands: Bird flu found on farms in Hellum and Losdorp

Posted: 28/02/2022 Save as favorite In Hellum in the province of Groningen, a farm with 16,000 turkeys was diagnosed with bird flu. The virus has also been detected at a broiler farm in Losdorp in Groningen with 37,000 animals. It is probably a highly pathogenic variant. To prevent the virus from spreading, the animals on the farm are culled by the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority. There are no other poultry farms in the 1 kilometer zone around the infected farm in Hellum. In the zone of 3 kilometers around the company are 3 poultry farms. These companies are sampled for bird flu. There are 19 poultry farms in the 10 kilometer zone, including the two recently infected and cleared farms in Woltersum. The 10 kilometer restriction zone of the current outbreak partly overlaps with the other 10 kilometer zones that were established for two previous outbreaks in Woltersum and are still in force.
