Turkey: Blooming almond trees in Adıyaman became the hope of farmers

In Adıyaman, which was affected by the earthquakes on February 6, centered in Kahramanmaraş, the almond trees that bloomed due to good weather conditions became the hope of the farmers before the new harvest season. Nurettin Kıyas, Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that almond production is carried out on 100 thousand decares of land in Adıyaman. Pointing out that Adıyaman is the city with the highest amount of almond production in Turkey, Kıyas stated that almond trees were not damaged by earthquakes. Noting that 33 thousand tons of almonds were produced in the city last year, Kıyas continued as follows: "Almonds are mostly affected by early frost in the spring. We are in full bloom right now. There has not been a situation that negatively affected the yield in this period. Again, there has been hail and rain, but we are doing well compared to the last two years. I hope that in the next few days there will be very excessive hail or frost. ...
