Retail prices for fresh blueberries have surged by over 40% since earlier this summer due to a temporary supply shortage caused by warm conditions in Peru. The president of the US Highbush Blueberry Council and the North American Blueberry Council stated that this scarcity was caused by unusual weather conditions in Peru, resulting in a contraction in supply and a delayed shipment. While the supply is starting to rebound and become consistent, frozen blueberries remain in ample supply as an alternative.
