The National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) announced this Tuesday, the 26th, the second phase of the Living Forest program, an initiative to support ecological restoration projects with native species or Agroforestry Systems (SAFs) in different biomes of the country. The program will have an initial contribution of R$ 100 million non-refundable from the BNDES Socioenvironmental Fund, but the amount may reach R$ 250 million with the participation of partners, the development bank informed. The bank released the notice to select the operational manager of the initiative, with a contract of up to six years, extendable by another two years. The program aims at the recovery of springs and basins, climate regulation, and biodiversity protection with income generation, from activities for the conservation of ecosystems in the Cerrado, Caatinga, Pantanal, Pampa, and Atlantic Forest biomes.
