The Minister of Rural Development and Lands, Juan Yamil Flores, announced the decision by President Luis Arce to use biotechnology in agriculture, initially for soybean production in the next summer campaign. The use of the genetically modified Intacta soybean seed (RR+Bt) will help manage weeds and pests, leading to increased productivity. This move is aimed at ensuring soybean production for animal feed, which will in turn support the production of meat, eggs, and other products, helping to stabilize prices and avoid issues in the family basket. An additional million tons of soybeans is expected to be produced using improved seeds for the industrialization of the country, particularly for biodiesel production.
