Brazil is currently facing a shortage of onions due to depleted stocks in Ituporanga and Lebon Régis, Santa Catarina, prompting increased imports from Argentina. However, these imports are delayed at the Porto Xavier border due to stringent sanitary inspections and a reduced workforce. Additionally, adverse weather conditions have led to limited onion yields in Irecê, Bahia, and the São Francisco Valley, affecting both the volume and quality of the harvest. The situation is expected to normalize by mid-April with the anticipation of more favorable weather conditions in the Northeast.
