The Organization of Cooperatives of Paraná (Ocepar) announced that the application processes for exporting Brazilian beef and pork to the Japanese market have been separated, which could expedite negotiations for pork. Currently, only pork slaughterhouses in Santa Catarina are authorized to export to Japan, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) is working to expand access to other Brazilian states. Mapa's press office is yet to confirm the information. Discussions are expected to swiftly move towards positive results following a meeting with Japanese authorities in November, where trade issues were discussed. In October, Japan imported three times the volume of Santa Catarina's pork exported compared to the same month in 2023.
