Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) has signed a regionalization agreement with Singapore to ensure pork meat and product trade can continue in the event of an African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak in Brazil. The agreement, already in effect, permits trade as long as the disease is contained and health control measures are implemented, adhering to the guidelines of the World Organization for Animal Health (WHO). This agreement offers greater security and predictability in trade, benefiting producers in both countries. The access to the Singapore market, known as one of the most demanding in Asia, is seen as a significant opportunity for increased trade in the region. Brazil has been ASF-free since 1988 and maintains this status, recognized by the WHO.
