Argentina's National Service for Agri-Food Health and Quality (Senasa) has received approval from Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture to export rainbow trout to Brazil. The trout, which is mainly produced in the Patagonian region, is a product of sustainable aquaculture that is constantly growing. This development is anticipated to generate significant foreign exchange and job opportunities. The process to export to Brazil started in 2020, involving technical exchanges and adjustments of requirements and conditions between the two countries. Argentina's aquaculture industry has seen growth since 2020, with the creation of the National Directorate of Aquaculture and the implementation of the National Aquaculture Fund. The industry has doubled its volume and markets in the last two and a half years and aims to reach over 50,000 thousand tons in the future.
