Brazil consolidates itself as a leader in the export of dairy cattle genetics

In September of this year, Embrapa Dairy Cattle (MG) sent Mexico the first genomic evaluation of Gir Dairy cattle herds in that country, highlighting Brazil as a reference in bovine genetics for regions with tropical climates. In May, the institution had already delivered the first international genomic evaluation to Bolivian producers, and by next year, it expects to expand this service to 11 more Latin American countries. In addition to Mexico and Bolivia, countries such as Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic will also receive these evaluations. “We are internationalizing our Gir Dairy genetic improvement actions,” says Marcos Vinícius G.
