In July 2023, Brazilian chicken meat exports to Iraq surged by 118.6% to 15.3 thousand tons compared to the same period last year. While imports by the UAE and Saudi Arabia declined, China, Japan, and South Africa remained top buyers. Overall, Brazil exported 463.3 thousand tons of chicken meat in July, marking a 7.3% increase from July 2022 and generating $889.2 million in revenue. The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) credits this growth to the lifting of embargoes and rising international demand, despite an 8.33% year-to-date revenue decline. Meanwhile, the U.S., Brazil's main competitor, is seeing a reduction in export volumes.
