Director of the FAO highlights that Latin America and the Caribbean are highly dependent on agriculture and have much to teach the rest of the world

The Latin America and Caribbean Platform for Climate Action in Agriculture (Placa), an initiative created during COP25 in Madrid in 2019, currently has 18 member countries, represented by their respective Ministries of Agriculture and Environment. According to Maya Takagi, Director of Programs for the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) for Latin America and the Caribbean, who is presenting the initiative at COP30 in Belém, the platform has been useful for the member nations to share their initiatives, doubts, and needs. Thus, the idea is that they learn from each other in a space of regional cooperation.
