The Brazilian Association of Fruit Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas) has announced that China has opened its market to fresh Brazilian grapes, following years of negotiations. This is a significant milestone for the Brazilian fruit industry, providing access to a market of over 1.4 billion people with a high demand for quality food. Chinese inspectors have assessed Brazilian production sites to evaluate sustainable practices and phytosanitary controls. The official announcement was made during the COSBAN meeting in June, and comes at a time when China imported $600 million worth of grapes in 2023.
