Garlic has officially become part of the National Agricultural Zoning Program for Climate Risk (Zarc), an initiative that identifies areas of lower climate risk and defines the ideal planting periods across the entire Brazilian territory. The objective is to guide rural producers, financial agents, and insurers regarding the most suitable regions for cultivation, minimizing losses due to climatic variations. The decrees that establish the zoning for the crop were published by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) in the Official Gazette of the Union on November 25, 2025. The studies were conducted by researchers from Embrapa Vegetables (DF), in partnership with producer associations and agricultural education and research institutions.
