São Paulo is looking to expand its cocoa cultivation, with the government already overseeing 300 hectares in the northwest and another 300 hectares on the coast and in Vale do Ribeira. The São Paulo government, in partnership with the CocoaAction Brasil Foundation and the National Association of Cocoa Processing Industries (AIPC), is working on initiatives such as rural credit, quality seedlings, and publicity to promote large-scale cocoa cultivation. The state also offers a course on cocoa cultivation and is considering it as a viable alternative for areas degraded by other crops. Brazil currently ranks sixth in global cocoa production, but there are ambitions to become one of the top three producers, particularly with decreased production in Africa.
