The pace of soybean planting for the 2025/26 season remains below that recorded in the previous season. According to researchers at Cepea, this scenario is a reflection of the irregular distribution of rainfall across much of Brazilian territory over the past three months.
In the South of the country, excess humidity has still been limiting access to the land. Meanwhile, in the Midwest and the Matopiba region, the uneven distribution of precipitation has resulted in moisture levels below what is necessary to proceed with fieldwork.
Despite the recent increase in rainfall totals in the Midwest and Matopiba and the reduction in rainfall volumes in the South – particularly in Paraná –, Cepea's contributors indicate that the scenario is one of uncertainty regarding the productive potential of the 2025/26 season.
According to Conab, 78% of the national area had been planted by November 22, below the 83.3% recorded in the same period last year.
