The Agricultural Conjuncture Bulletin, prepared by the analysts of the Rural Economy Department (Deral), from the State Secretariat of Agriculture and Supply (Seab), released this Thursday (21), highlighted the relevance of avocado in the world fruit production. According to the survey, in 2023, 10.5 million tons of the fruit were harvested from 954.7 thousand hectares, which represents 1.4% of the area cultivated with fruits and 1.1% of the global production. Mexico leads the world supply with 28.4%, followed by Colombia (10.4%), Dominican Republic (9.7%), Peru (9.4%) and Indonesia (8.4%). Brazil occupied the seventh position, with 422.5 thousand tons, equivalent to 4% of the total. The bulletin stressed that "in global exports of fresh fruits, the avocado was the third in importance, participating with 7.2% of the US$ 106.5 billion moved in 2023".
