Despite Brazil maintaining a leading position in the global coffee market, the current scenario demands greater articulation between research, production, and public policies. This was the central theme of the debate “Brazilian Coffee Market: Perspectives, Challenges, and Opportunities,” promoted by Embrapa's Socioeconomic Network last week. At the event, moderated by the general manager of Embrapa Coffee, Rodolfo Osorio de Oliveira, researcher Rita de Cássia Milagres Teixeira Vieira presented a study developed from the integration of national and international databases — such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the foreign trade statistics system of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services (Comex/MDIC), and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) —, combining historical series and updated data to construct a comprehensive analysis of the coffee market.
