Brazil: Record pork export from Santa Catarina

In the first half of 2023, Santa Catarina achieved the best pork export result in history since 1997. The state accounted for 56.7% of revenue and 55.2% of Brazilian pork exports, making it the largest pork producer and exporter in Brazil. The result is a half-year record both in terms of volume and revenue. These data were released by the Ministry of Economy and analyzed by the Center for Socio-Economic and Agricultural Planning (Epagri/CEPA). In the first half of the year, 320.1 thousand tons of pork were exported with a revenue of 793.9 million US dollars, which represents an increase of 14.7% and 25.9%, respectively, compared to the same period of the previous year. China and Hong Kong accounted for 46.7% of shipments from Santa Catarina during this period.
