Brazilian law requires coffee beverages to be made from 100% coffee fruit, with up to 1% natural impurities. The law prohibits alternative grains, additives, and coffee processing waste. Recently, a product labeled 'coffee flavor powder' was seized for containing no coffee fruit ingredients and was deemed a 'three-no product' with illegal additives, contradicting the law. The Brazilian Coffee Industry Association (Abic) certifies products that pass strict quality inspections, ensuring compliance with impurity content and absence of added foreign matter. Consumers are advised to look for products with real coffee ingredients, preferably certified by Abic or the Brazilian Specialty Coffee Association (BSCA), and be wary of products with abnormal prices that may indicate fake ingredients. The Ministry of Agriculture will continue to monitor the coffee market to prevent food fraud and protect consumer rights and the coffee industry's reputation.
