Brazil is planning to mandate the individual identification of all animals destined for slaughter by 2032, as part of a progressive strategy aimed at improving health management and reinforcing international health standards. The plan, which will use electronic tags and chips, is divided into four stages, with the first two focusing on developing the computerized system and integrating state agricultural health agencies. From 2027, the mandatory identification phase will begin, starting with animals vaccinated against brucellosis and those in private protocols. This initiative is expected to enhance traceability and confidence in the beef industry, aligning with global trends towards more transparency in livestock production.
