Brazil's egg consumption has seen a significant increase over the past two decades, reaching 251 eggs per year per person in 2021, which is higher than the global average. The country is on track to produce a record 56 billion eggs in 2021, with the United Arab Emirates, Japan, and Oman being its main export markets. Despite the high costs of egg production, which are expected to rise further due to increased prices of corn and soy bran, the sector plans to offset these costs through exports. Currently, exports have seen a 153% revenue increase in the first half of 2021 compared to the same period in 2020. However, domestic egg producers are not focusing on exports yet due to expectations of a turnaround in the domestic market with the resumption of in-person classes and work, and potential changes in the international situation that could affect production costs.
