In June 2022, Brazil's agricultural exports reached a record value of US$ 15.71 billion, an increase of 31.2% year-over-year, with a 2.1% rise in export volume. The soy complex was the primary contributor, with foreign sales reaching a high of US$ 8.06 billion, despite a 2.3% drop in imported volume. China was the largest buyer of these exports. Additionally, soy flour exports surpassed US$ 1 billion for the first time, largely due to increased prices and record volumes. The demand for soy flour has surged worldwide due to reduced production of soybeans in South America and the war in Ukraine, which has disrupted sunflower flour exports. The European Union was the top importer of Brazilian soy flour, purchasing US$ 448.26 million worth.
