In the first half of 2024, Brazilian fish farming saw remarkable growth, with exports reaching US$23.7 million, nearly equaling the total exports for 2023. The sector experienced a 72% increase in exports from the first to the second quarter, largely driven by fresh or chilled tilapia fillets, which made up 67% of second-quarter exports. The United States was the primary importer, receiving 87% of Brazil's fish exports. A report by Embrapa Pesca e Aquicultura also noted a significant price increase in most tilapia categories compared to the previous year.
