In the later part of the previous year, Brazil experienced a rise in tilapia production alongside an increase in the average weight of the fish. Despite domestic prices being lower, the country's tilapia exports saw an uptick due to a favorable exchange rate and an abundant supply. This resulted in a significant monthly and annual increase in tilapia exports, with December seeing a shipment of 2,100 tons, marking a 40.3% rise from the previous month and a massive 202.3% increase compared to December of the previous year. The exports consisted of various tilapia products such as fillets and by-products.
