The Korea Forest Service is developing criteria for the classification of frozen jujubes due to a surge in imports of China-made frozen jujubes, which have been distributed domestically despite low tariffs and a lack of classification standards. The lack of regulations has led to concerns about illegal distribution and false import declarations. The Forest Service plans to submit the standard to the Korea Customs Service by May and will also increase on-site inspections of frozen Chinese jujubes in cooperation with the National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service to prevent damage to domestic jujube farmers.
