Two new potato varieties, "Orion" and "Poseidon", have been bred by breeders in Primorye, Russia, specifically for the climatic conditions of the Far East. These varieties have undergone state testing in 2022 and are designed to meet the requirements of a wide range of consumers. The region harvested over 64,000 tons of potatoes in 2022 with a yield of 200 centners per hectare. Since 2021, Primorye has also been testing Belarusian potato varieties. It is anticipated that in 2023, the seeds of the new varieties will be sold to farmers and private farms in Primorye.
