The European Commission has given the green light to the new areas for vaccination against contagious bovine dermal necrosis (CBDN) proposed by Spain on March 30 following the confirmation of two additional outbreaks of this disease in cattle farms in Huesca on March 2 and 3. According to an Implementing Decision published this Wednesday in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU), the Spanish vaccination plan provides for the expansion of zone I to include the entire province of Huesca, certain municipalities in the province of Zaragoza, and parts of Lleida and Navarra that were not covered. Thus, the list of vaccination areas I comprises various municipalities in the autonomous communities of Catalonia, Aragon, Navarra, and the Basque Country, while the vaccination zones II extend through Catalonia and Aragon.
