Brutal yield, tough berries, less crop protection – the Kara® strawberry has seriously stirred up the market

Three years have passed since the Kara® strawberry first appeared on the French market, and 2025 is already considered its first truly significant production year. The Italian-bred variety, distributed through a club system, has generated considerable interest among producers, as evidenced by its presentation at the recent IAD trade show in Bordeaux. Kara® can set a new benchmark in the strawberry market not only with its yield but also with its resistance and shelf life. The Kara® variety is grown under license, currently available to members of the Délices Rouges club. The club is a network of approved producers, with two organizations in France currently holding the license. However, independent growers can also join if they meet the professional and technological requirements set by the club.
