Bulgaria exports less sunflower meal in 2024

Hardly anyone is surprised that this season Bulgaria exports less sunflower meal compared to the previous one. From the beginning of the season until now, Bulgarian companies have exported over 0.28 Mt of sunflower meal, which is about 29% less compared to the exported quantities at the same time a year ago. Last year's exports were an absolute record as a result of increased imports of sunflower and even meal from Ukraine at low prices, which were subsequently processed and re-exported. This year, imports are significantly lower, but this does not prevent exports from taking second place after the previous record. Exported volumes this season are 21% more than the average for the last 5 years. Again, the main buyers of Bulgarian sunflower meal are third countries, with China remaining in first place with 0.25 Mt.
