Farmers in Rangpur region have successfully harvested a bumper crop of mustard, producing 51,542 tonnes from 38,433 hectares of land, surpassing the target set by the Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE). The average yield rate was 1.34 tonnes per hectare, thanks to the cultivation of high yielding varieties developed by the Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute. The government had distributed seeds and fertilisers to small and marginal farmers. The newly harvested mustard oilseed is being sold at local markets for Taka 2,800 to Taka 3,000 per mound.
