Farmers in the Rangpur agriculture region of Bangladesh have cultivated mustard on over 52,552 hectares of land, surpassing the set target by 6.62%, leading to hopes for a bumper mustard crop and profitable market prices. Despite the fixed production target being raised to an all-time record of 73,523 tonnes, from the previous seasons' production, farmers' cultivation exceeds the target. The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) and other agricultural organizations are supporting the extensive mustard cultivation, with quality seeds and fertilizers distributed among small, marginal, and flood-hit farmers. The mustard plant's yellow bloom indicates favorable conditions and promises higher profits for the farmers, who are expecting a lucrative market price between Tk 3,500 and Tk 4,200 per mound, as seen last year.
