Busan Fisheries Cooperative (Chairman Oh Sung-tae · photo left) attended the 'Special Legislation Policy Discussion Meeting on the Establishment of the Estuary Restoration Special Act' held at the 1st Small Conference Room of the National Assembly Building on the 5th. Chairman Oh Sung-tae of the Busan Fisheries Cooperative delivered opinions representing inland fishermen. Chairman Oh Sung-tae said, "The expansion and restoration of tidal flat areas is a practical solution to rescue fishermen who are driven to the brink of subsistence by the limitations of their livelihoods" and emphasized, "The recovery of the estuary ecosystem is not merely an environmental issue but an important task directly linked to the future of fishermen, and the recovery of the estuary is the recovery of fishing villages." Furthermore, "The establishment of the Estuary Restoration Special Act is an essential starting point to solve these problems institutionally and no longer."
