(Jinan=Yonhap News) Reporter Choi Young-soo = North Jeolla Province's Jinan County announced on the 31st that a pepper market will be operated at the Jinan Market parking lot in Jinan Town from August 4 to October 19.
The pepper market is a direct trading market where high-quality dried peppers and pepper powder produced in the region are sold cheaply every market day (4th and 9th) in Jinan Town.
Jinan peppers are cultivated in highland areas with an elevation of over 400 meters, where the daily temperature variation is significant, resulting in peppers with beautiful colors, good fragrance, and thick skin, which yield a lot of pepper powder.
To enhance the reliability of Jinan peppers, the county is providing 56,000 pieces of dedicated packaging materials containing seller information.
Kim Nam-su, head of the Agricultural and Livestock Distribution Division, said, "Farmers must thoroughly clean and dry the peppers" and "We ask for many visitors to support farmers who are facing difficulties due to abnormal weather and economic downturns."
