By 2030, Russia will increase chickpea exports by almost 1.5 times

In the next five years, Russia can increase its foreign supplies of chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans) by almost one and a half times from the 2024 level – up to 800,000 tons. These forecasts are provided in another review by the federal center for agricultural export development ("Agroexport", owned by the Ministry of Agriculture), published in its Telegram channel. In precise figures, the increase will be around 260,000 tons. In monetary terms, legumes will be exported for a total of $460 million. Last year, exports amounted to $333.9 million. At that time, the country ranked second with an indicator of 539.3 thousand tons, and its share in global chickpea trade was over 15 percent. Abroad, the crop from Russia was supplied in dried form. Turkey became the largest importer. It purchased 203.2 thousand tons of this product, which accounted for 37.7% of its domestic exports. Pakistan was second with 181 thousand tons (33.6%).
