By mid-February, from 1 percent to 6 percent of plants in winter crops were damaged by rodents in Ukraine

As of February 16, mouse-like rodents in Ukraine damaged from 1% to 6% of plants in winter grain and rapeseed crops. This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine with reference to the results of monitoring by the State Food and Consumer Service of Ukraine. As noted by the specialists of the department, the weather conditions last week were characterized by insignificant positive indicators during the day and frosts at night. Cloudy and partly cloudy weather prevailed, precipitation was recorded in the form of rain and sleet. Winter crops during the second decade of February were mostly in a state of shallow dormancy. “There is no significant increase in the number and active settlement of mouse-like rodents. In winter crops of almost all regions, there are 1-2, in some fields in the marginal strips of the Nikolaev region, there were up to 5 residential colonies per hectare.
