The Administrative Council for Economic Defense (Cade) court approved on Wednesday, the 17th, the acquisition of Brazilian industrial bakery company Wickbold by Mexican company Bimbo. The approval of the concentration act is conditional upon the signing of a Control of Concentrations Agreement (ACC) between the companies. The agreement establishes combined structural and behavioral commitments. Among the structural remedies adopted, there is the divestment of two brands, Tá Pronto! (tortilla/wrap bread), which will be sold by Wickbold, and Nutrella (healthy bread segment), which will be divested by Bimbo, with a prohibition of repurchase for a period of 10 years. The rapporteur, Camila Cabral, explained that the Tá Pronto! brand operates in a segment, the tortilla, where there was a lack of effective rivalry on a multinational level.
